Silvano M. Card. Tomasi

Cardinal Silvano Tomasi’s book on the Congregation’s process of internationalization is printed and will soon be available online.
“The purpose of this publication by our confrere Cardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi is to reexamine – drawing in part on his personal
experience – the most significant stages of the journey toward internationalization undertaken by the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles (Scalabrinians), founded in Piacenza (Italy) on November 28, 1887, by St. John Baptist Scalabrini (1839–1905), Bishop of Piacenza from 1876 until his death (June 1, 1905), who was canonized by Pope Francis on October 9, 2022.
Drawing on his pastoral experience in the service of the Congregation and the Holy See, Cardinal Tomasi offers in this volume an analysis
that weaves together the historical, ecclesiological, missionary, and vocational dimensions of the Congregation’s process of internationalization, which is rooted in the founder’s original vision, in which the seed of universality was already present.”
